III. Freedom through Business and Agriculture

Minority-owned enterprises and farms once flourished in the cities, towns and rural areas of Orange County. African-Americans achieved economic freedom by owning land, operating family farms and managing their own businesses. In more recent times, many have achieved prominent positions of employment in large firms and agencies. Through perseverance, people of color have contributed to the sustainability of their communities, and to the diversity of economic base.
